Wisdom from a friend

"Your girls will be totally fine. You will make it. You are stronger than you realize."

A friend who has gone through divorce with two young children told me this today. I think I need to be constantly reminded of this.

I hope it comes true.

  1. I hav been legally divorced for a over a year now. I have two small kids too. It is hard and I was told the same too. It is true but it doesn't make it easier. It makes you know you are doing a food job.

  2. Thanks! Yeah, I guess all I can hope for is that it's harder on me than on the kids. I don't want this to be the definition of their childhood.

  3. It won't be unless you make it. It's easy to put our fears onto them.

  4. Right. I think I do a really good job of sheltering them from any of that. Despite transitions sometimes (for the 4 year old), they seem fine. I mean, they're happy, dancing, singing little girls. That can't be bad, right? :)

  5. Right and they will know no different. Kids are resilient. I had the same fears and sometimes still do but my kids are only 3 and 5 and I've been raising them virtually on my own for two years. Dad sees them but on a limited basis...no overnights for now.
I know it's hard but just take care of yourself and they will flourish!

  6. Thank you for your helpful words! And thanks for commenting. I don't get much feedback on this blog, and anything helps.
